Lightnin' Hopkins

Lightnin' Hopkins

In the fall of 2000, my wife the artist talked me into drawing again. It was a very busy time for us and she thought it'd make for good therapy:) It also produced a bunch of portraits, but I'll only be posting the three I like -- this is the best one, I feel.

These remind me of the R.Crumb "Heros Of The Blues" trading cards. Have you ever seen those? Are you familiar with Robert Crumb's work?

The name seems vaguely familiar, but that's about it. I'll see what I can find about him on the internet...

I like these, Andreas....what are you using? Looks like prismacolor pencil. That's one of my favorites but I do it on vellum and use lighter fluid.

Thanks, Rosie! I think it's mainly pencil, but on this and on the Hendrix I think some things were done with crayons -- whatever Siret had around at that time. I must ask her when I get home:) I never did learn to use watercolors or oil -- just pencil.

How does the lighter fluid thing work then? Do you have anything posted with that technique?
